Welcome to 2nd Go Performance

Begin Your Journey

We are a non-profit organization that rehabilitates, reconditions, and supports viable cutting horses so that they may again participate in the sport of cutting. We actively recruit new riders through outreach programs and communication with other teaching and therapeutic riding programs. Once accepted into the program, all lessons, equipment, and show fees are provided free of charge to first year riders.

2GP Mission

2nd Go Performance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to rehabilitating professionally trained cutting horses who can no longer perform at peak intensity but, with structured recovery and ongoing care, remain capable of teaching, partnering with new riders, and thriving.

Our Horses

Our horses are the core of our program. We seek out talented, seasoned cutting horses that often require TLC, reconditioning, and in some cases, rehabilitation before returning to the work they love.

Each horse is managed under professional trainer care with continuous veterinarian supervision to support long-term soundness and health.

Our Riders

2nd Go Performance brings riders, trainers, and veterinarians into shared work around the horse. By learning, caring, and progressing together, these communities form lasting connections skill, and respect for the cutting horse at the center of it all.

Our riders come from all walks of life. Prior to becoming part of our program, applicants have never before competed in a cutting competition. Our requirement for new riders is general riding skills, a desire to learn, and a passion for the horse. Once accepted into the program, all lessons, equipment, and show fees are provided free of charge to first year riders.

Our Community

The changing landscape and demographics of Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson County have meant a decline in people participating in western equine sports.

Our rehabilitation work results in creating a direct pathway for new riders from urban and rural communities. As the only nonprofit in the country using equine rehabilitation and long term maintenance in this way, we offer access while pairing opportunity with hands-on learning in horsemanship, daily care, and cutting horse competitions. The result is not only new participation but riders who enter the sport with a deep respect for the horse and the responsibility that comes with it.

We accept donations of cash, equipment, and cutting horses.
